Episode Introduction
----------------------------------------------------
Chris: Welcome back to the Extraordinary Purpose Podcast! I’m Chris, here with the amazing Erin.
Erin: Hey everyone! We’re so glad you’re here.
Chris: We’ve both been fighting off sickness, but being back with you fills us with energy. This podcast is our passion, and we’re committed to supporting parents, teens, and young adults in discovering their purpose and building stronger families.

Why We Created This Podcast for Parents of Teens & Young Adults
----------------------------------------------------
Chris: If this is your first time tuning in, welcome. Erin and I are parents of four teens ourselves. We know firsthand the challenges parents face—kids don’t always want to listen, they often resist advice, and sometimes it feels like they’re slipping away.
Erin: Exactly. Parents tell us all the time, “My teen won’t listen to me” or “My young adult doesn’t want my advice.” We want you to know—you’re not alone. Our kids don’t always listen to us either! That’s why we also seek mentors and coaches for them. That’s what this show is about—helping you and your family feel supported.

Today’s Topic: What is Shared Purpose?
----------------------------------------------------
Chris: Today’s episode is about shared purpose—your family’s “why.” Why do we come together as a family? Why do we have dinner together, or game night? Why do we support each other?
Erin: Shared purpose is really about shared values, passions, and goals. Families, couples, even schools and teams thrive when they’re working toward a shared purpose. It’s what unites us, even when we’re all different.
Chris: And when families lose connection with that purpose, motivation drops. Teens feel disconnected, young adults lose direction, and even couples drift apart. Reconnecting with your shared purpose can transform your home.
----------------------------------------------------
How Shared Purpose Strengthens Families
----------------------------------------------------
- It helps parents reconnect with their teens and young adults.
- It reminds couples why they came together in the first place.
- It encourages kids to feel seen, heard, and valued.
- It gives everyone a sense of contribution, unity, and belonging.
Erin: Even if you’re very different as individuals, when you know your shared purpose, you can move forward together. That’s what keeps families strong.
Chris: And this isn’t just about families—it applies to classrooms, workplaces, and sports teams too. Shared purpose creates connection, motivation, and resilience everywhere.

Practical Steps for Parents and Families
----------------------------------------------------
1. **Create family moments.** Have a conversation, go on a nature walk, or sit down at dinner. Bring your teens and young adults into the discussion as equal contributors.
2. **Identify shared values.** Ask everyone to share their passions, goals, curiosities, and strengths. Look for themes that connect you.
3. **Create rituals.** From family game nights to supporting each other’s passions—rituals build momentum.
4. **Support each other’s interests.** Even if it’s not your thing, show up for your child’s passions—it builds trust and connection.
5. **Celebrate uniqueness.** Every family member brings something different. Shared purpose honors that uniqueness.

Closing Message
----------------------------------------------------
Erin: Remember—you’re not alone. When families rediscover their shared purpose, everything changes. Connection grows, laughter comes back, and love feels alive again.
Chris: Thank you for tuning in today. Keep being the amazing parents you are. We believe in you, we love your families, and we’re here to support you.
