[Conversation Begins]
Chris: Everybody, welcome to the Extraordinary Purpose Podcast with Erin and Chris. So amazing to be back with all of you. Thank you so much for tuning in for what we believe is a pretty special edition. As always, I’m with the amazing and beautiful Erin. Hey sweetheart.
Erin: Hey babe. How’s it going today? I’m kind of excited to talk about this topic.
Chris: The more I think about it, the more I realize this is the foundation of our belief system and our coaching.
Erin: Absolutely. Chris and I pick these topics from our daily life—our walks in the forest, conversations at the gym, or even at home with the kids. We love what we do, and it all integrates with our family. By the time we get here with you, we’ve been living and breathing this topic, and we’re so excited to share.
Chris: Exactly. Today we’re diving into something that can make the absolute biggest difference in your life, your parenting, and your family: being a positive influence.
Erin: And I want to remind every parent listening—it’s not about perfection. It’s about intention. It’s about small, meaningful progress, not flawless execution.

[Story Example: Modeling at the Gym]
Chris: A couple of days ago, we had a special moment with my son William—it was his first visit to the gym. He walked into this big space, picked up a barbell, and did his very first bench press. His arms were shaking, but he pushed through. The look of pride on his face when he finished—I’ll never forget it. On the way out he said, “Dad, I want to come back.”
Erin: That moment reminded us that influence is so much more powerful than lecturing. Instead of telling our kids, “Go exercise,” we can bring them into our world, show them what makes us feel alive, and let them experience it firsthand.

[Key Lessons We Shared Today]
1. **Model Self-Care**
Your kids learn more from watching how you treat yourself than from what you tell them. Show them your morning routines, fitness habits, journaling, or meditation practices.
2. **Model Emotional Regulation**
It’s okay to make mistakes, but own them. Show your kids how to calm down, step away, breathe, and return with kindness. Let them see resilience in action.
3. **Model Purpose**
Share your passions and your dreams openly. Let your children witness you living with intention, curiosity, and a sense of mission.
4. **Be Consistent**
Influence isn’t created in one moment—it’s built over time. Keep showing up, even when they roll their eyes or act uninterested.
5. **Choose Curiosity Over Control**
Encourage your kids to try new things and get out of their comfort zone, not because you told them to, but because you modeled the courage to do it yourself.

[Closing Reflections]
Erin: Remember, it’s not about being the perfect parent. It’s about progress. When you take small steps to show up differently for yourself, your kids notice—and it makes all the difference.
Chris: Thank you so much for joining us today. Get out there and model some amazing things for your kids this week. Be intentional, be kind to yourself, and remember—it’s the long game.
