EPISODE TRANSCRIPT
Chris:
What’s up, babe? We’re back. Welcome to 2026 and welcome back to The Extraordinary Purpose Podcast. I’m Chris Adang, and here with me is the radiant and dynamic Erin Verdis.
Erin:
I still blush every time you say that. Thank you. It’s really good to be back with everyone.
Chris:
It’s been a few weeks. Honestly, it feels like we haven’t recorded in a long time, but we’re excited to kick off the year with intention.
Erin:
This is our first episode of 2026, but what we’re talking about today applies no matter when you’re listening. This could be the first day of the year, the first week, or simply a moment when you’re ready for a reset.
Chris:
And reset is the right word. We had a rough start to the year with illness, and for me especially, it forced something different.
Erin:
You actually listened to your body, which was huge.
Chris:
Old me would have pushed through no matter what. This time, I slowed down, rested, and paid attention. That was a real win.
Erin:
We intentionally stepped back over the holidays too. We spent time with our kids, with each other, and created space. That space is where clarity and creativity come from.
Chris:
And that brings us to today’s topic: creating an extraordinary 2026 for parents.
Not through pressure, hustle, or doing more — but by understanding what actually turns vision into momentum.
WHY GOALS ALONE DON’T WORK
Erin:
Most parents know what they want. They have goals for themselves, their kids, and their families. And that’s a great starting point.
Chris:
But goals alone aren’t enough. January comes, intentions are set, and by February things start to fade.
Erin:
That’s because what’s missing is a framework — something that supports follow-through, confidence, and consistency.
STEP ONE: RESULTS AND OUTCOMES
Erin:
The first step is clarity around results. What is the actual outcome you want?
Chris:
Instead of “I want to be healthier,” ask yourself what that looks like in real life.
Erin:
For example: “I exercise three times per week and have consistent, healthy energy.”
Chris:
Specific outcomes create focus. Focus determines where your time and energy go.
STEP TWO: PURPOSE AND WHY
Erin:
This is the most important step — your purpose and your why.
Chris:
Surface-level reasons won’t carry you through resistance. You need an emotional connection.
STEP THREE: ACTION PLAN AND METHOD
Erin:
Now you create your plan. Not perfection. Just the first steps.
Chris:
Clarity comes from action, not overthinking.
IDENTITY: WHO DO I NEED TO BE?
Chris:
It’s not just what you do — it’s who you’re being.
Before you walk into any situation, ask: Who do I need to be to get the results I want?
RITUALS AND HABITS
Erin:
Rituals support this version of yourself every day.
Chris:
One change for me was putting my phone away at 7:00 PM. It improved my sleep, focus, and presence.
THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT CHANGE
Chris:
There’s no magic pill. Confidence comes from following through with your word.
Erin:
Momentum builds quietly — and then everything changes.
CLOSING
Erin:
This episode isn’t about fixing everything today. It’s about starting.
